Primary Engagement is a very important part of our school life. It is vital that we engage the older years of the primary schools, to allow them to make an informed decision when choosing their secondary school in the future. In order to do this, we aim to work closely with our local feeder school. We will be meeting the staff, pupils and parents over the next year to talk to them about our fantastic school and also showcase the amazing aspects of our school, which really do make us great. We held very successful Parent and Student Taster sessions last year, where we invited Year 5 and 6 students in, with their parents, to try out some of our wonderful subjects. We will bring these back again this year. The taster sessions really give you a real insight into the learning environments and engaging lessons which take place at Oldbury Academy every day. We are pleased to be able to show off our creative staff and £20million building.
Whilst these taster sessions are very well received we do also visit the local primary schools and parents evenings to capture a bigger audience. We think It is crucial that Year 5 and 6 students understand about transition, understand the ins and outs of secondary school and also that they have as much information as possible to make the right decision for them. Hopefully, when you visit a Key Stage 2 parents evening in the near future you will either see me or a representative from Oldbury Academy there, ready to answer any questions you may have. Please pop along to say hello.
