Free School Meals – Year 7 September 2020
If you are in current receipt of Free School Meals (FSM) at a school in Sandwell, you do not need to do anything. This information will be sent to us from your Primary school. However, if you do not attend a Sandwell MBC school or do not live in Sandwell you will need to apply to Sandwell MBC using the link:- http://www.sandwell.gov.uk/info/200151/education_benefits/2176/free_school_meals
Once you have applied Sandwell MBC will inform us of your acceptance. We will then apply this to your child’s record.
Be aware that as a new Year 7 student for September 2020 at Oldbury Academy – the first 8 days your child will receive a free school meal each day during this period. You will not need to send your child with money as a dinner and a drink will be provided for them at dinner time. This has been introduced whilst we setup your child with access to our cashless school dinner service. You will need to complete the Biometric Consent Form – see details provided in your welcome pack about this. If you want to send your child with sandwiches or other drinks and snacks you can do this.
Department Introduction Video’s
At this time of year, we would normally start inviting the students who will be joining us to come into school for a day so they can experience some lessons and find their way around the school. This is not possible this year, so we have put together a short video tour of the school.
New Intake Student and Parent’s Presentation
We can’t put on our normal Parent & Student Evening event this year for our new intake, so we have produced it in video form.
Mr Brittle’s Introduction
Our Transition Lead Mr Brittle is here to give our new Year 7 students and families some reassurances and also to make them aware of the different Transition Activities we have planned.
Headteachers Welcome to New Students
As we move into this Years Transition Activities we have had to change things slightly. Please see a welcome video from Mr Shackleton, our Headteacher, and keep an eye on our website and social media platforms for more updates.
In these uncertain times we believe it is important to communicate effectively with all parties involved with Oldbury Academy. Please click here to see the letter which we have sent to all of our new Year 7 families who will be starting with us during our next academic year.
As mentioned in the letter, we need parents email addresses so that we can forward any important information on. Please can you send your name, your child’s name and also the best email address for us to use to email@example.com
